China Southern Airlines and Emirates officially launched codeshare cooperation on June 20 on the parallel route of CAN-DXB. China Southern is Emirates’ first codeshare partner in China.
“As one of the leading carriers in the world, Emirates is renowned for global network, excellent services and influential brand. There will be promising prospect for our cooperation with Emirates,” said Mr. Wu Guoxiang, Senior Vice President International & Corporate Relations, China Southern Airlines.
China Southern Airlines and Emirates signed a Memorandum of Understanding and a Codeshare Cooperation Agreement on January this year, announcing the joint commitment of establishing codeshare partnerships and further strengthening business cooperation to provide passengers with seamless travel services of better quality.
More codeshare products will be launched in the following stages. The two parties will further optimize the connectivity of both networks, explore cooperation in the fields of customer services, providing customers with comfortable and seamless travel experience around the world.
China Southern Airlines operates the largest fleet, most developed route network and largest passenger capacity of any airline in China.
The carrier announced in November 2018 that it will exit the SkyTeam alliance. In the same month, China Southern Airlines and American Airlines renewed their code-share cooperation agreement, furthering commercial and strategic ties between the two carriers.
In March 2017, American Airlines agreed to acquire a minority stake in China Southern Airlines for USD 200 million, cementing a partnership between the top carriers in the U.S. and Asia. American Airlines is a member of the Oneworld airline alliance.
