China National Tourism Administration reported the data of operations submitted by 9,418 of the 10,281 star-rated hotels registered in its management system for Q3 2019. The report rate was 91.61%.
During the period, a total of 8,077 star-rated hotels passed the provincial tourism administration examination. Among those, 34 were one-star hotels, 1,166 two-star hotels, 3,831 three-star hotels, 2,247 four-star hotels and 799 five-star hotels.
The 8,077 star-rated hotels grossed RMB 49.28 billion (USD 7 billion) in the third quarter, of which F&B incomes constituted RMB 18.86 billion and guest room incomes totaled RMB 23.55 billion, representing 38% and 48% of the total revenue respectively.
The average room rate (ARR) of the star-rated hotels for Q3 was 352.68 yuan per night, up 3.2% year on year. The average occupancy rate (AOR) was 59.88%, down 1.61% compared to last year. Revenue per available room (RevPAR) was 211.17 yuan per night, up 1.54% year on year, while the average operating income per room was up 0.88% to 36,659.76 yuan.
Eight provincial-level areas reported higher ARR than the national average of 352.68 yuan per night. Shanghai topped the list with an average of RMB 712 per night per room, followed by Beijing, Hainan, Guangdong and Fujian. (Translated by Elena)
