As of September 30 last year, 30,137 travel agencies, or 75.03% of the nation’s total 40,167 travel agencies, submitted their operational data to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
The data showed that the domestic tours organized by the travel agencies had drawn 19.71 million travelers in the third quarter of last year, 60.01% less than the same period in 2019, while the total number of domestic tourists handled was 26.3 million, 52.93% lower year-on-year.
The top 10 popular destinations for organized domestic tours in the third quarter were Zhejiang, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Chongqing, Hunan, Hubei, Fujian, Sichuan, Shanghai and Shandong.
In terms of domestic trips handled, the top 10 destinations were Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Hubei, Hainan, Hunan, Yunnan, Guizhou, Guangdong, Chongqing and Fujian.
The top 10 destinations by the total number of organized and handled domestic trips were Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Guangdong, Hunan, Hubei, Chongqing, Yunnan, Fujian, Sichuan and Guizhou.
