China announces its first national parks
>> China has just revealed its first-ever group of national parks, all of which focus on preservation of specific animals native to the country. Altogether, the protected land area from the parks covers a total of 230,000 square kilometers (88,800 square miles), from far northern Tibet to the southern holiday island of Hainan.
Tibet to launch tourist route featuring countryside experience
>> A tourist route around Lhasa, capital of southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, will be launched to offer countryside experiences, according to local tourism authorities. With over 3,000 hours of sunshine on average per year and a rich trove of cultural relics, Lhasa is a world-renowned ancient cultural city and tourist destination. Statistics showed that in 2020, Lhasa received more than 20.08 million domestic and foreign tourists, with tourism revenue amounting to 30.1 billion yuan (4.64 billion U.S. dollars).
China’s cruise industry is finally set to sail
>> The 930-passenger Zhao Shang Yidun that departed from Shenzhen on an eight-day “Charming South China Sea” cruise during the past National Day holiday is the first five-star luxury ship dedicated solely to the Chinese market. Its maiden voyage is the result of a 15-year bet on the part of the government that cruising is the future of Chinese tourism.
Air China sees year-on-year decrease in September passenger traffic
>> Air China said it recorded a year-on-year decrease but a month-on-month increase in combined passenger traffic (measured by revenue passenger kilometers) in September. Passenger capacity (measured by available seat kilometers) recorded a year-on-year decrease of 17.0% and a month-on-month increase of 46.3%. The overall passenger load factor was 66.0%, representing a decrease of 9.7 percentage points as compared to the same period last year and an increase of 8.4 percentage points as compared to last month.
China Eastern posts over 18% decline in September passenger capacity
>> China Eastern Airlines reported that its passenger capacity (measured by available seat kilometers) in September decreased by 18.28% year-on-year, among which, the passenger capacity of its domestic and international routes decreased by 18.19% and 29.33% year-on-year, respectively, while the passenger capacity of its regional routes increased by 80.07% year-on-year. Passenger load factor decreased by 12.10 percentage points year-on-year to 64.79%, among which, the passenger load factor of its domestic routes decreased by 12.77 percentage points year-on-year, while the passenger load factor of its international and regional routes increased by 11.19 and 22.17 percentage points year-on-year, respectively.
China Eastern Airlines to schedule two new flights flying from Daxing airport
>> China Eastern Airlines announced that it scheduled two new flights flying from Beijing Daxing International Airport. As one of the main base airlines of Daxing airport, China Eastern currently holds a market share of more than 30%, with 327 inbound and outbound flights per day, covering 90 cities across the country.
