Shanghai Disney Resort unveils a 'clean' campaign
>> Shanghai Disney Resort visitors will have more hygiene and hand cleaning facilities in the future with the introduction of disinfection and sterilization products on site. Disinfection and sterilization products will be offered at 300 handwashing stations, in addition to 70 hand sanitizer dispensers to be deployed across the park and at the resort's hotels, Disneytown and Wishing Star Park, under the latest alliance between Disney China and one of the leading hygiene and cleansing brand Dettol.
Ant Group partners with DFS for luxury travel retail
>> Alipay operator Ant Group and DFS Group, a Hong-Kong based travel retailer of luxury goods, have partnered for payments and marketing digitalization across the latter’s network of 36 stores in 15 markets and 12 online stores in four markets. Alipay+ will also be integrated as a payment option for better foreign exchange rates and cross-border payment acceptance from mobile wallets.
China to better facilitate visas for foreigners with business
>> China will facilitate the issuance of port visas and multiple renewals for foreign businessmen, according to the Ministry of Public Security and National Immigration Administration. For foreigners coming to China for business negotiations, trade exchanges, installation and maintenance, participation in exhibitions, investment, and entrepreneurship, and who have no time to apply for visas to China outside the country, they can apply for port visas to enter the country with the invitation letter and certification materials of the enterprise.
Spanish architectural exhibition in Beijing aims to boost China-Spain ties
>> A series of exhibits concerning world-renowned architectural masterpieces from Spain have been put on display in Beijing, offering an immersive experience to visitors. Themed “Meet Gaudi: the Art World of Talented Architect,” the exhibition debuted in Shanghai in March. It started in Beijing on July 29 and will continue till November.
Trip.com Group and Penang Global Tourism extend partnership globally
>> Trip.com Group and Penang Global Tourism (PGT) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) that extends their existing partnership to a global level. With the new MOU, Trip.com Group's platforms – including Trip.com and Ctrip – will promote inbound tourism to Penang over the next three years. This expansion will now see Penang being promoted to travellers from global markets including mainland China, Singapore, South Korea, Japan and Australia.
MGM China’s net revenue grows over 230% year-on-year to HKD10.6 bln in H1
>> MGM China Holdings has reported HKD5.8 billion in revenue for the second quarter of 2023, about 105% of the 2019 level, with its adjusted EBITDA of HKD1.75 billion at 120% of its pre-Covid level. The company’s net revenue grew 231.2% to HKD10.6 billion in the first half of the year compared to a year earlier.
China's first 350km/h HSR delivers 340m passenger trips in 15 years
>> As the first high-speed railway (HSR) with a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour (km/h) in China, the Beijing-Tianjin Intercity Railway (BTIR) carried a total of 340 million passengers since it entered operation in 2008. Over the past 15 years, the daily frequency of trains running on the rail line has increased from 47 pairs to 128 pairs, and the shortest departure interval has been shortened from 15 minutes to 3 minutes, according to data from the China Railway Beijing Group Co., Ltd.
Air travel in China takes off again
>> China's air travel market has performed highly positively since the country optimized its COVID-19 response measures, the International Air Transport Association said. There is also huge potential for future growth, the association added. In the first half of the year, China's civil aviation transport maintained its recovery momentum, almost returning to the level seen in 2019 before the pandemic, according to the Civil Aviation Administration of China.
