Club Med owner Fosun Tourism said its revenue rose more than 38% to nearly RMB 8.9 billion for the first half of 2023. The leisure-focused integrated tourism group reported a 29% increase in the business volume of its tourism operation during the first six months this year.
Fosum Tourism recorded an RMB 472 million profit during the period, compared with a loss of RMB 197 million last year.
The company's French resort brand Club Med posted a record-breaking semester, driven mainly by the significant growth in Mountain business largely attributed to customers from EMEA, particularly from France, Brazil, the United Kingdom, Belgium, and Israel.
In the first half of 2023, the business volume of Club Med amounted to RMB 7,939 million, representing an increase of 32% compared to that of the same period of 2022, and reaching to 119.6% of that of the same period of 2019.
Global average occupancy rate by Bed of Club Med reached about 62.4%, increasing by 3.3 percentage points compared to the same period of 2022 and showed a decrease of 2.7 percentage points compared with the same period of 2019.
The business volume of Club Med in mainland China recorded RMB 320.5 million in the first half of 2023, 247.6% higher than that of the same period in 2022, and recovered to 83.1% of that of the same period in 2019. But that's still just 4% of the brand's global volume.
The Atlantis Sanya resort reported an occupancy rate of 86.2% during the first half of the year, up by 40.1 percentage points as compared to the same period last year. The number of visits increased to 3.178 million compared with 1.535 million in the same period in 2022.
In April, the company accomplished the sale of the Turkish resort Kemer to the Turkish OZAK Group, netting a gain of RMB 219.4 million.
