Chinese tour operators organized 8.9532 million trips, an increase y-o-y of 21.38% and recorded 23.7085 million trips in domestic tourism and 3.1375 million trips in inbound tourism, an increase of 8.84% and decrease of 1.76% y-o-y respectively according to the 2015 Q1 summary report of statistical data on China’s national tourism industry published by the China National Tourism Administration.
Inbound tourism
Countries and regions in the top ten ranking for inbound tourism volume in Q1 were: 1. Hong Kong, 2. Taiwan, 3. Korea, 4. Macau, 5. USA, 6.Singapore, 7. Malaysia, 8. Thailand, 9. Russia, 10. Japan.
Domestic tourism
Provinces and metropolitan areas in the top ten ranking for volume in domestic tours in Q1 were: 1. Guangdong, 2. Zhejiang, 3. Shandong, 4. Jiangsu, 5. Shanghai, 6. Liaoning, 7. Hubei, 8. Sichuan, 9. Fujian, 10. Hunan.
Outbound tourism
The top ten ranked destinations for outbound tourism volume in Q1 were: 1. Thailand, 2. Hong Kong, 3. Korea, 5. Japan, 6. Macau 7. Taiwan, 8.Singapore, 9. Indonesia, 10. France.
Tourism market breakdown
The domestic tourism, outbound tourism and inbound tourism markets made up 64%, 28% and 8% of the total market respectively a y-o-y drop of 2%, increase of 28% and zero growth respectively.(Translation by David)
