“We will fully harness the power of audio-visual shows to improve the experience for outbound travelers and we are developing our content and channels to be able to offer our users better video products and user experience,” Tuniu Video’s director Xipeng Geng said.
He said their five types of programs will help users understand a destination and its culture from different perspectives. Tuniu Video has already formed fully-open channel partnerships that allow its users to view its videos on popular video streaming sites like Tencent Video, Youku and iQIYI as well as and traditional channels like television and public viewing screens in airport waiting lounges, metro and trains.
Tuniu Video evolved from the production of Uncle Yu’s Recommendations. In November 2014 and the show became a smash hit in the experiential travel video genre. This was the first time a Chinese OTA’s CEO (Tuniu’s Donald Yu) endorsed his own online travel products, and each product was vividly described with video and graphics to meet user demand for individualized outbound travel.
Tuniu also announced it was upgrading the service standard of its Tuniu Express to the 2.0 version that includes down payment and online overseas travel insurance and finance products. It will also launch a new brand logo and enlist Taiwanese pop star Jay Chow to be their brand spokesman.(Translation by David)
