All Nippon Airways (ANA), Japan’s largest and 5-Star airline for seven consecutive years, and OpenJaw Technologies announced the launch of "Book on Google" powered by OpenJaw Order Management System.
The launch enables IATA New Distribution Capability (NDC) for Shopping, Order Creation, and Direct Booking with OpenJaw t-Retail and t-Data platform for ANA on Google Flights.
OpenJaw has also further extended the successful April 2020 Skyscanner launch for ANA to domestic and multiple international markets. ANA plans to add multiple additional sellers and new markets to its NDC Platform in the coming months.
OpenJaw Technologies, CEO, Kieron Branagan said: "ANA selected OpenJaw Technologies to provide its New Distribution Capability (NDC) platform last year. Both ANA and OpenJaw have been working very hard to allow ANA to connect with multiple distribution partners. This is a massive step forward in ANA's NDC strategy of enabling new direct booking channels, and additional revenue streams from the sale of ancillaries. The launch of Google Flights further extends the successful April 2020 Skyscanner Launch to widen distribution."
Mr. Branagan continued: "I am particularly proud that this Google Flights Go-Live has been delivered while the whole ANA project team has been working remotely. OpenJaw made the decision for its team to work remotely on March 12, due to COVID-19. Working in collaboration with the team at ANA, this is the second project working with ANA that went live during the pandemic. This was a huge undertaking for all concerned – and, even more impressive that it was all done through a team working remotely. My congratulations to ANA and to our team in OpenJaw Technologies".
"ANA continually strives to improve the travel experience for its passengers from start to finish, and work on the NDC platform dates back to April 2019," said Mitsuo Tomita, Senior Vice President of ANA. “We are excited to allow our customers to reserve ANA flights through Google Flights. Previously, our customers would need to enter flight information such as date and destination and would be re-directed to ANA's official website to make a reservation. The introduction of the "Book on Google" service streamlines the process and allows for flights to be easily booked. In addition, if the customer has registered their credit card with Google PayTM their credit card information will allow for a smoother transition from search to the reservation to the payment process.
Since April 2019, ANA has been working with OpenJaw to create a New Distribution Capability NDC platform with the goal of making the booking process more efficient. ANA is the first airline in Japan to obtain IATA’s NDC Level 3 certification, and enables passengers to research, choose and immediately book itineraries within Skyscanner and Google Flights without having to re-direct to ANA’s website.
With the ANA NDC platform, ANA is setting the standard for convenience while also delivering wider opportunities for passengers to purchase a range of services via a single platform.
