During the summer travel rush (July 1 - August 31) this year, China’s passenger transport volume reached a record high, with a total of 140 million air passenger trips or 2.289 million per day. This marks a 17.7% increase over 2019 and a 12.3% rise over 2023.
The average passenger load factor during the summer was 83.9%, an increase of 2.6 percentage points compared to 2023. A total of 1.157 million flights were operated, with a daily average of 18,660 flights, representing an 8.2% increase compared to the same period in 2023.
Among these flights, 891,000 were domestic flights, averaging of 14,371 flights per day, marking a 2.1% increase compared to the same period in 2023.
International passenger flights saw continued growth, with 110,000 flights operated nationwide, a 67.7% increase over the same period in 2023, recovering to 77.1% of 2019 levels.
The national flight punctuality rate stood at 77.3%, an increase of 4.7 percentage points from last summer and 2.8 percentage points higher than 2019.
